Settler Beans Recipe

Ingredients:

1/2 to 1 lb. ground chuck
1/2 lb. bacon
1 lg. onion, chopped
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. white sugar
1/4 c. catsup
1/4 c. barbecue sauce
2 tbsp. light molasses
2 tbsp. dry mustard
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 (1 lb.) can red kidney beans, undrained
1 (1 lb.) can pork and beans, undrained
1 (1 lb.) can butter beans, drained
1 (1 lb.) can pinto beans, drained

Cooking Directions:

Crumble and brown ground chuck and onion; drain off fat. Fry bacon until crisp; crumble. Place all ingredients (in order given) in crock pot. Mix well. Be sure to drain the butter and pinto beans.

Cook in crockpot several hours (5 to 6) on low or even longer if desired. May also be baked at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. NOTE: This is an old Italian recipe, goes well at Pot Luck dinners.
