Cherry Rolls Recipe

Ingredients:

1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. shortening
1 can tart red cherries, reserve juice
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. flour
1 tbsp. butter
1 c. water
1 c. cherry juice

Cooking Directions:

Rolls: Sift dry ingredients together, cut in shortening. Slowly add enough milk to make a soft dough. Roll 1/4 inch thick. Cover with drained cherries, roll into a jelly roll shape, press edges together, cut into 1 1/2 inch slices, place in greased pan. Prepare sauce.

Sauce: Cook sugar, flour, water and cherry juice. Bring to boil. Stir in butter, cook 1 minute or until it thickens. Pour over rolls.

Bake 30 minutes in 400 degree oven. Serve hot. A big family favorite.
