Chocolate Caramel Bars Recipe
Ingredients:
1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels1 (5 fluid oz.) can evaporated milk
1 (8 oz.) chocolate cake mix
1 1/2 sticks butter, melted
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts
Cooking Directions:
Melt caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk in top of double boiler, stirring until smooth. Keep warm.Mix cake mix with melted butter and remaining evaporated milk. Beat 2 minutes. Spread 1/2 of cake mixture in greased 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes. Cool 2 minutes.
Spread caramel mixture over crust. Sprinkle chocolate chips over caramel. Mix 1/2 chopped nuts with reserved cake mixture and drop by spoonfuls over caramel. Sprinkle remaining nuts over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 18 to 23 minutes. Cut when cool.
