Mother's Cinnamon Roll Recipe Recipe

Ingredients:

1 c. milk, scalded
1 c. cold water
1 egg
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. lemon extract
1 1/2 yeast (pkg.)
5 to 7 c. flour

Cooking Directions:

Scald milk and add shortening to scalded milk. Add cold water. Beat egg and sugar lightly together and add salt and lemon extract. Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup of warm water. Add a pinch of sugar, allow to foam. Add all together and add 5 to 7 cups of flour to form a soft dough. Allow to rise double in a bowl. Separate 1/2 of dough and roll out and add soft butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and raisins.

Fold in ends and roll. Cut roll into about 1 inch rolls. Place in greased pan and allow to raise double again. Bake at 350 degrees in metal pan, 375 degrees when using a glass pan, for about 20 minutes. (Ron usually puts frosting on these.)
