Mrs. Witter's Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe

Ingredients:

2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. buttermilk

Cooking Directions:

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Measure flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt into a bowl. Cut into flour mixture with a pastry blender or 2 knives (used scissor-fashion), until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.

Pour in buttermilk all at once. Stir quickly with a fork. Dough will be very moist. Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface to knead. Gently pick up dough from side away from you; fold over toward you; press out with heel of hand. Give the dough a quarter turn. Repeat ten times. Add flour as needed until elastic and not sticky. Gently roll out dough, from center to 3/4 inch thickness.
