Amish Friendship Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

1 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 c. milk
2/3 c. oil
2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
3 eggs
1/2 tsp. each cinnamon, vanilla, salt, & baking soda

Cooking Directions:

Do not use metal spoon. Do not refrigerate. Do not put lid on.

DAY 1: Do nothing the day you receive your start bread batch.

DAY 2, 3, 4: Stir with a wooden spoon.

DAY 5: Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk and stir with wooden spoon. (You can use this also as a starter batch.)

DAY 6, 7, 8, 9: Stir with wooden spoon.

DAY 10: Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk and stir with wooden spoon. Pour into 3 containers (1 cup each) and give to 3 friends with a copy of these instructions. To the remaining batch add: 2/3 cup oil, 2 cups flour, 12 cup sugar, 1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder, 3 eggs, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda.

(NOTE: You may add nuts or dry fruit.) Pour into 2 well greased and floured loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pan. You can use a tube pan at 325 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes.
